Who is The Talbott Collective?
The Talbott Collective is three etsy shops (listed above) operated by me, Eileen Hook. I have been hand-crafting most of my life in one form or another, starting with 4-H when I was in 7th grade. As I got older my projects became more complex than a simple apron for my Mom (I still make aprons, but they're much prettier!). From making clothes for myself and my family, I've branched out to making quality accessories, toys, clothing, etc. for others. My first foray into selling my hand crafts took place in 1999 when I rented tent space at the annual Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park Mountain Man and Trader’s Faire, where I am a docent. I’ve been selling items from the Talbott & Co. Heritage Goods shop at the Trader’s Faire every year since, and opened my etsy.com shop in 2009. The ‘Talbott’ part of the shop name comes from my Fort character, Mrs. Elizabeth Talbott, a fictional pioneer woman who travelled by wagon train from Boston to California in 1845.
In 2009 I found myself making modern as well as historical items and opened Mrs. Talbott’s Homespun Goods on etsy.com. Mrs. Talbott’s carries items for today with a nostalgic feel – I call it ‘contemporary nostalgia.’
T & C Fine Goods came into being in 2010 as an etsy.com shop where I can indulge my fabric addiction and offer items that are a touch more trendy.
All items in The Talbott Collective are of the highest quality materials and 100% handmade by me, never mass produced. Everything is finished inside and out. Quality workmanship to wear and use with pride!
